Let's say you have a folder full of random pictures and you want to select a couple of them and move to another location or maybe send it to a friend. Well, this is easy you might say, I just hold down CTRL key and select what I want. Well, you get a little help from a feature in Vista that is very helpful for a change: the "Use check boxes to select items" option!

If you must modify your connection properties often or you use several Wireless connections you must enable or disable, this is how you can create a direct shortcut to "Network Connections" so you don't have to open "Network and Sharing Center" every time.

In the shortcut's location enter: "explorer.exe ::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E}".

Windows 7 has a new way of displaying program icons in the taskbar, with no text. Thus there's more space for windows. This tutorial shows you how to do this in Windows Vista.

If you don't like the new Flip3D feature in Windows Vista, or just if you want to save some resources, you can disable it from the Group Policy Editor.

You browse to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Desktop Window Manager.
In the right panel double click "Do not allow Flip3D invocation" and select "Enable" from properties.

To enable Flip3D again just set the option to "Disabled" or "Not cofigured" (default).

There's an annoying little feature in Windows: when you open a unrecognized filetype you get a small windows that ask if you want to search the web for a program that can help you with the file.
We all know that this feature is not very helpful, so probably many where the times when you wanted that option gone.

The key address is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
The name of the key you must add is:
NoInternetOpenWith. Set this key's value to 1.
